sequestra’s approach offers a dual pathway for CO₂ emission mitigation. Direct emission reduction is achieved by permanently storing CO₂ as carbonates in residual industrial materials (inner circle). Additionally, indirect emission reduction is realized by utilizing these carbonated materials as substitutes for high energy and emission-intensive primary construction materials in the building industry (outer circle).
By fully exploiting this potential across all mineral residues, sequestra’s technology could enable a total CO₂-emission mitigation of 4 Gt annually, marking a transformative step towards global sustainability.
